The Power of Pink Art Bra: Patricia J. Mosca and Nancy L. Jones
as seen in Art Bra Calendar 2007 THE POWER OF PINK
She always loved pink! During her wild child days of delighting in every moment, delectable pink adorned her from head to toe. It made her feel pretty. Deeper than pretty, really because pink is the color of miracles. Ah, Pink! Bubblegum and roses, flamingos and flaming sunsets.
As she grew older, pink became less of a focal point in her wardrobe. She decided that "black" was her color of choice in her twenties. Her thirties were "blue" and pink slipped further into the shadows. But, pink was patient. It wasn't until after the visit to her doctor.
After the screams and tears. After she began her treatments. After the shock wore off. As she started to piece back the fabric of her life. Her strength and her courage allowed her to live again. And what did she discover? PINK!
Pink is the energy that moves us out of negative states, giving us physical and spiritual clarity. Pink is the balance of yin and yang. Pink is tremendously powerful. The wild child wears the ribbon proudly, the symbol of a bodacious warrior. It diminishes the fear and anguish of dis-ease. It lovingly supports the integrity of the individual. Pink is the color of healing. Pink is the color of her soul. She glitters in pink, she glides, she feels pretty!
Never underestimate the power of pink! It HEALS OUR WORLD! When you have a choice wear and think PINK!

Katie's Garden Banner

It has been my extreme pleasure to work on this banner that will go in a memory garden for a young women (17 years old) who lost her life in a car accident, along with 3 of her friends. Katie loved pink and Zinnia's... So this banner is to honor her life. I wrote this affirmation to go along with it and it is written on the back of the banner...

KATIE'S GARDEN

It is here we will gather...
We will sit and watch
the flowers grow....
We will make wishes on
moonbeams
As you sleep in the stars...

It is here we will gather...
To remember you...
To remember to laugh...
To remember to dream.
It is here we will gather...

To feel your love, and the
colors of your shining soul
As you kiss us softly with
butterfly wings....

Today may your remember to give the people you love an extra kiss...

When you get those "rejections" it is very difficult NOT to take it personally...when I know in my heart that I shouldn't...So I have had to take time to digest it...work with it..figure out what I want and how I want to go about it from here...when I received some kind and wonderful words from a friend...AND BANG ...BAM...BOOM...POW! It hit me right in the heart today...so I thought I would share what she said....cause boy did the words ever hit home....and made me so aware of the the blessings of friends and their support....THANK YOU CHERYL!!

"Sorry about the disappointment w/the teaching gig... hey...they're doing you a favor...know why?... Now... go do it!! Folks are waiting for what you have to give! Fly dragonfly girl....fly!!-- and reacquaint w/dragonfly energy...i believe it's about adapting and changing flight "on a dime"... 'cause they're so adaptable ???"

I have my dragon fly gratitude beads in front of me...and I am counting ALL OF MY BLESSINGS...And I am waiting for the OPP to POP!! Take a moment today and send a friend a note of encouragement..a note of praise...a note of friendship....IT WILL MAKE THEIR DAY....and YOURS!!

Art Doll Quarterly!

+
The pages of the magazine do not scan well on my machine, so I have downloaded pictures I took of them before I sent them off to Art Doll Quarterly...BUT RIGHT NOW
I am floating! I am excited and happy! I finally have an issue of Art Doll Quarterly and there I am in print....Page 95 and page 124! And no little thumb nail picture...HECK they are FULL page pictures........MY heart is racing...my happiness is difficult to contain....I will proudly display MY BIG GIRL AWARD!!!!!! FLYING is a beautiful thing!Let me say that this issue is full of wonderful doll artists, and I am honored to be placed among them. I have personally seen some of the work of Christopher Malone and his masterpieces are magnificent. I own several books by the talented Sandra Evertson, so her paper witch hat is a joy to behold. There are witches and pumpkins and fairies to feast your eyes on! This magazine is top quality and would still be even if I wasn't in it..but seeing as I am, what better way to toot the horn for this Stampington & Company publication. Thanks to everyone who has supported me in all I have been working so hard to do...for standing by me, putting up with me, and listening to me as I dream and cry, and then dream some more. And for all the love each and everyone of you show me every day I thank you with all my heart.

Trying to make Sense!

Here I am this morning trying with all of my heart to make sense out of a reckless act. My son, who is 32, was leaving a local pub to cross the street to his house, when 3 guys decided that they were going to jump him. Now they did not steal his wallet, they did not say anything to him..they just started beating him up...as luck would have it several people came out of the bar and scared them off...someone called 911..someone followed the guys to the house they went to (so the police do know who they are, but it is up to my son to press charges)...My son, was left unconscious and bleeding in the street! He has bruised ribs...a fractured nose...a lip split so wide open that it took some 28 stitches both inside and out to put back together...He has a black eye and scraps where they pulled him along the sidewalk and hit and kicked him....Even as I write this tears come to my eyes....I am thankful that this is all that happened to him...I am thankful that he has a winning personality and insists that they are battle wounds and girls like scars!...I am thankful for those who called 911 and for those who stayed at the hospital with him. What I do not understand is WHY!? Why would anyone do this to anyone else? What would make anyone think that this is a FUN thing to do on a Friday night? What type of person does something like this? Now, my son, for whatever reason does not think that he will press charges...(it would take to much time out of his life...what really would be the good in this...all those "nice" things) And yet, my gentle heart cries...and I think that there must be some kind of consequence that one must pay...that you should have to be responsible for your actions weather they are good or bad...I am trying to make sense of such a senseless act. And I am just not sure where to put this today...Thanks for listening...it is helping...

GREEN Challenge

The challenge here was to use the color green! Now, as you know for me to use just one color pallet is a bit of a stretch!! So this piece was started and then abandoned by me for several weeks! The deadline was looming in front of me, and I thought that I would just give it up...cash it in...leave it be! When a friend of mine, Royce Addington, wrote a poem that I read...and BING...BANG...BOOM! the GREEN piece came to life in a glimpse! I ended up having a lot of fun with this piece and doing somethings that I do not usually do when altering...Lots of layered paint..the lily pad is actually a coaster! The vine was made from string and the leaves are hand painted paper! So here I leave you to view:

THE GLIMPSE

Thank you Royce for your inspiration!

A package arrived from Cheryl!

Yesterday I was out...running the mundane household errands...you know the grocery shopping..the bank...the post office! When I arrived home there was a box waiting for me from Cheryl! Oh...it was like Christmas!! This box was filled with wonderment and delight! There were DVD's for my grandson..and some for me! There was a candle with the wonderful scent of RELAXATION! There was a beautiful little change purse that was just the right colors...and some wonderful little 4 by 4 canvas to paint on...all wrapped and bowed ...and a mandala card that was handmade with LOVE....BUT if I thought it couldn't get any better....MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT when I opened and held these gratitude beads in my hands...I felt the power, the energy, the love, the creativity, the joy the......words cannot describe how these beads feel in my hands...smooth and textured...I wish I could do a post here that would tell you how I feel about the beads, but I can only say they made me cry...tears of pure JOY! I held them again this morning and they did the same thing....GRATITUDE! It manifests itself from deep within and pours out of me with tears of LOVE...tears of JOY...tears of FRIENDSHIP..tears of CREATIVITY! I tried very hard last night to describe to Cheryl how they make me feel...and quite simply THEY MAKE ME FEEL GRATEFUL AND LOVED!!!!!!
Thank You from the bottom of my heart Cheryl....I will carry them and be mindful every day to be grateful! They will be used and love! Thank you for being my friend, for being a creative Muse...for making such a beautiful and thoughtful gift! May we all remember today to be grateful for the smallest and the largest of treasures.

EXCHANGE!

I have been writing my affirmations for over a year now...sharing them on my blog and also in The Artella Daily Muse on Tuesday and Thursday. Since the beginning of it all I have received positive e mails and comments. But one person always shows her smiling face...and that is Lori. Lori and I have become fast friends via this machine!! And someday we will meet and do art together and laugh and giggle and share stories! (just like we do on this machine!!) We decided to do an exchange of art..each making a box for the other person...I made a BIG DREAM box for Lori and Lori made me this beautiful mandala box.(we both share a passion for mandalas)...The box is filled with little envelopes that are all handmade with affirmations inside of each one!! WOW!!!!! is all I can say!! This is like a treat within a treat within a treat!! Not only do I get the box, and the affirmations but also a matching handmade card! So for this I say THANK YOU LORI...THANK YOU for being inspired and for inspiring!! This was a wonderful exchange and I will enjoy this box forever...and today I picked a little envelope out and it said: SMILE...and that is just what I am doing right now!! If you are going to a blog and you write to the author of that blog...don't be afraid to ask if they would like to do an exchange with you...they might just say YES! And just like Lori and I ... you just might find another member of your tribe!!

Sunday's Answer

Two weeks in a row this card has called me!! I shuffle and shuffle and shuffle the deck...ask my question, and then spread the cards out in front of me. Close my eyes and concentrate on the question while running my hands over the cards...One card always just makes my hand feel warm with tingles!! So this must be a complete sign...A sign to trust that my affirmations are being answered, that the path I follow is the right one, that the many different ideas and dreams I have set into motion and continue to do are going to take me to places that I have only dreamed of going to. Today, as I accept heavens help I will ask for clear, and understandable guidance about the next step and know in my heart that the answers will be given to me with loving care. So that would be my wish for all who enter here today...May you ask your questions...may you trust that they have been heard and then may you listen closely for your answers and continue on your path.

OUT OF THE BLUE from Chantal...

Here is the beautiful handmade journal that Chantal sent my way for the out of the blue swap!!!! It is full of spirit and texture and inspiration!! The inside pages are beautiful high quality watercolor paper for me to create on...I have decided that this journal will be used starting on my birthday this year and will be JUST FOR ME!!!! A sweet place to honor the things that I feel blessed about! The name of this journal is COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS....and indeed it just makes you want to do that. Thank you so much for this journal Chantal, it was just what I needed and it will be treasured always. I printed out the Irish blessing and will place it on the back inside book cover....Thank you again from my heart.
To view some of the wonderful art that Chantal offers you can go to her etsy store.

Here is the Irish Blessing:

May your joys be as bright as the morning,
And your sorrows merely be shadows that fade,
in the sunlight of love.
May you have enough happiness to keep you sweet.
Enough trials to keep you strong.
Enough sorrows to keep you human.
Enough hope to keep you happy.
Enough failure to keep you humble.
Enough success to keep you eager.
Enough friends to give you comfort.
Enough faith and courage in yourself to banish sadness.
Enough wealth to meet your needs.
And one thing more: enough determination
to make each day a more wonderful day than the day before.

Sunday's Answer

It has been a long week....with the holiday right in the middle it has thrown me a little off balance, and I have not been to sure of what day it is!! LOL...I have had my grandson here over the weekend (2 1/2 years old) and he requires a lot of care, so I have not been in my studio working for several days...Actually as a grandmother (or MOMA as I am lovingly referred to as!) you forget just how much you have to do for little ones on a 24 hour routine and how tired you can get!! Not that it isn't fun, because it is such FUN! So my question is: will I be able to get back into the swing of things, to maintain my path and direction? This card has let me know that the ANSWER is YES!! And that letting myself take this little down time is the best thing that I could of done right now. That my creativity will flow that much better with this time of rest and retreat from the paint, and the paper and the pens! Like most artist I get a little upset with myself when I am not creating...GO..GO...GO!!!! And also, like most artists I know perfectly well that you must rest and refuel or you burn out quickly! So, with that being said from the voice of this card, I know that tomorrow is another day! Tomorrow is a day to begin again, with new eyes and fresh ideas. I hope that this card brings some words to you today. That you too can trust the process of retreat..rest..renewal...and that you remember that you are surrounded by the positive energy of creativity even when you are not creating in your normal way!

Sundays Answer

As usual on Sunday, I consult my cards for my highest intentions. I am having a lot of things changing around me...My good husband's last day of work was Friday, and that causes me to have mixed feelings. I have put myself out on some tree limbs with my art to see if I can reach the apple, and that is scary and exciting. So today, I needed to see if my cards would give me a sign that all is exactly as it should be...AND ......BLESSED CHANGE!!!!!! WOW...
This card assures me that the changes in my life are actually going to help me. That these changes are an opportunity to learn, grow and prosper. By staying the course, and embracing the change rather than fearing it, the direction will come. Love is stable and always provides for me no matter what. So as the Universe pushes me toward new horizons I know that I am qualified to handle it. I gave myself permission some 10 years ago to finally do my art..(.When I became an "empty Nester"!And I could no longer suppress the call to create! ) 6 years ago I gave up my DAY job to do my art full time...and now here I am putting myself out there and changing..Changing the way I think, the way I act, the way I believe.
Blessed Change!!!!!!!!! May you also be aware today as you look at this card of the changes that are going on in your own life...and view them as blessings. For everything is occurring for the best!

Out of the Blue for Deb

This is the last of the OUT OF THE BLUE SWAP and it is going to the hostess, my friend Deb, (or Bee,or Bae, or BAE_BEE!!) I wanted to make her something to inspire her and where she could look at it and perhaps place some of her wishes and dreams for herself on a soft pillow...where inspiration would fly on the wings of a butterfly and dreams could be held cushioned among flowers and bees!! So this is for you Deb....You continue to inspire and amaze me with your creativity!!

Sundays Answer

Once again it is Sunday when I ask my Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Cards a question from deep within my soul...This is the card that I drew today...and it answered my question DEAD ON!!!!!!!!! I mean really!! There is a deep desire in me to use my art and my writings to touch people, to make them smile, to help them be the BEST that they can be. Now, I know that sounds a little new aged..but that is what my art and writings have done for me...They have allowed me to open up to ME! They have exposed to me a true sense of who I am and what I am doing! I dream bigger now, I laugh more now, and I am far more open than I have been since I was a child. It is this child like feeling inside, that causes me to want to help. Show people that the seriousness of life can be set aside, if even for a few minutes every day to bring a more joyous, playful wonderment back into our lives. It is my wish for all who enter here today and see this card and read this post that you take that moment...to just go within ask yourself the question and then wait for the answer with an open heart and be willing to receive what it brings....

Magical Mango Kitty!!

This is a piece of art that I did for Cheryl...She has her studio which she delightfully named the MAGICAL MANGO STUDIO...This kitty hopefully will adorn her wall to bring her magical wisdom as she creates!! This kitty started out as a rusty tin piece and was transformed...I love working on raw objects...tin, wood...It is such a wonderful feeling to make something come to life!! Enjoy this kitty Cheryl...You can see the before and after picture of Magical Mango Kitty at Dreaming in Color!

Getting Ready to FLY!!!!!!!!!!!

I am ready to get the next OUT OF THE BLUE project off to Chantal, who lives in England! I met Chantal through the Artella community. She is a wonderful soul, an amazing artist, and she does Angel readings!! You can met her here..... Anyhow, I started this Angel Diva last fall, but she refused to be finished!! Wasn't sure WHY at the time! So she remained in a corner of my studio untouched for 8 months...Then this swap came to me, out of the blue!! and the Angel appeared and wanted to be finished for Chantal...I cut her open and she has a hanging message inside! This piece is for "SHE WHO FLIES" and it is full of GROWTH and FLIGHT...Chantal is branching her artwork off into a direction where she is now making cards...May this piece hold the secrets to her inner spirit, her wisdom, and her beauty as she tends to her spirit so it may grow as she continues to fly!

EMPOWERMENT!

There are changes going on around me that I have no control over in the slightest! My good husband was informed that his entire complex where he works (computer work!) will be outsourced to India by the end of the month!! Now, this is a pretty scary thing for people rapidly approaching their 60's with mortgages, and bills to be paid. So I turned to my Oracle cards today, (as I do every Sunday) and asked for a sign...This card was the most powerful as my hands lightly touched each card...When I turned it over, I was told that I was SAFE...Safe to be powerful!! That by using my power instead of worrying I can continue to be not only gentle but powerful and still be effective!!!!!!! It truly was a card that wanted to surface and reaffirm that I am on the path that I am suppose to be on!! Causing deep, down within my being SMILES!!!
May your day start out and end with you also standing in your POWER!

Breast Cancer Tokens...

My friend Cheryl, gave a jewelry making class at her local Breast Cancer Coalition to those living with cancer and cancer survivors. When she put out a call for anyone of her friends to send along a small gift for the participants. I knew that I wanted to make something, but I wasn't sure what...I pondered and remembered that when I was dealing with my own illness I use to carry with me a smooth shell that my father use to carry in his pocket...He called it his worry stone, and you could feel the indentation where he rubbed his thumb over and over it (as he went through his own radiation treatments) After his passing we found these worry stones everywhere, and my sister and I both took one. Months later when I was going through my surgeries my stone was with me...I kept it in my bathrobe pocket, my pant pocket, my jacket pocket! So with that in mind I wanted to make tokens that these loving souls could have to keep for them self. A token that was small enough to carry concealed in their pocket but big enough to carry the love, faith, belief, and hope that was sealed into each and every one! This was a project that brought back many thoughts for me, but most of all it brought back the idea that we as women MUST reach out in whatever way we can to help other women when they most need it! So with that being said, see where it is that your heart directs you...volunteer your skill, your art, your time to something that calls to you...It will do your heart good!!

BEING PUBLISHED!!!!!!

As many of you know I am on a quest this year to be published in more national magazines. I have been checking all the CALL FOR ARTISTS in the magazines that I love to look at and be inspired by....This was a call for artist put out by ART DOLL QUARTERLY which they challenged artist to make dolls out of gourds. These 2 were my submissions, and they have contacted me and they will be published in the fall issue of the magazine. I am so excited, honored and feeling joyous about this FIRST STEP! Now, I have never made dolls out of gourds before, but someone gave me a bag of gourds that has been in my garage for the past 5 years! I always wanted to do something with them, but originally thought of bird houses!! I went through the bag and decided that these gourds were the ones that spoke to me!!
My heart is in the Garden...was the first one that I made...The face came and then her bodice just sort of painted itself...because the gourd would not sit straight I opted to place it on the grapevine wreath and embellish it....The hat is made from felt and I just love her whimsical look!!
A Pair in a Chair...was inspired by a photo of my sister and I when we were young!! I originally thought I would use the photo's of our faces, but these gourds wanted to speak for them self! So I took doll parts and made the legs and once they were completed placed them on a little wooden chair that I had painted up....
This has been a year of challenges in all sorts of ways for me and I am so happy to have this first soon to be published piece under my belt....Just makes me so totally aware that the POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to all who visit and view and for all the loving support and inspiration! Share in my happiness.....

Set Your Sights Higher!

Today as I am trying to pick up my messy studio to get ready for MANY projects...I decided that I should pick a card from my Magical Mermaids and Dolphins Oracle Deck..(given to me by Chantal!!) Anyhow, I asked the Universe the question: AM I TRULY ON THE RIGHT PATH?
This card was my answer...I have heavens reassurance that I am ready. That I should reach for the stars and receive the gifts with open arms....This is a very important card, as I have been putting things off, only partly playing with some of my projects, taking new projects on when I have not completed others...So YES...I do need to increase my standards and expect more for and from myself!! Yes....I need not settle!! So...it is very important that I get this space UNCLUTTERED! Because when it is as cluttered as it is right now it tends to confuse me and makes for confusion as to where I should start and where I should finish!! So I clutter myself more and more. So thank you Universe for telling me this, reminding me that today I should visualize and dream about my true heart's desires. That would be my wish for all today also...let fear and worry be released and throw your doubts to the wind....It all just slows you down!!
