Feeling as if I am back in the groove today with my journal page....So, I toast to riding the ebb and flow of life successfully....sometimes it just takes longer than others!! And I will not forget (or at least I will try not to forget, especially if I am riding a wave!) where I came from and where I am off to...to listen to my heart....to honor the smallest of steps...and to remember that there are NO MISTAKES...allowing myself to be ME!.....I am a fairly shy person (I know ...hard to believe) but I am in person....this machine allows for so many things to feel so much easier to express....and I am happy for the opportunities it has allowed me....And we all know that Uppity Woman break the rules...which is what I did with that prompt....I used all the words as a word pool instead of writing about JUST ONE!! LOL....Yup!! She is feeling better!! LOL

I remind myself today, to take a shot of sunshine regardless of the weather....to drink in something that makes me happy...something that makes me smile....something that warms me!
I have always been aware of being a little bit left of center...not knowing until later in life that it was my creative side!! But I see things differently...I do not follow the norm...and it is certainly OK to be like that....the square peg in the round hole as my friend, Karen would say!! LOL....As I did this journal page I was thinking that regardless of anything one should always be semi prepared for the things that are going on around me...Perhaps that means that I should always have my hip boots ready to wade through the high waters...but most of all I should wear that smile that comes from my heart that I readily pin on my sleeve!!! I have a beautiful bouquet of flowers in my living room that welcome me each day with there fragrance and beauty....and they have lasted now for weeks....as I clip off the fallen ones and remove the leaves that no longer are nourished so that the buds may bloom and they remind me to take care of myself as I have taken care of them in order to grow...

So, I am late with posting my journal page from yesterday...but I have a really good excuse for myself.....I WAS SLEEPING!!! LOL....Have you ever had one of those weeks when you were so filled with emotion that all you really could do was SLEEP!! Well....that is the week I have had...but yesterday, I felt a movement....I woke up with the Sun and a spoon full of Sugar!! I took a prompt from the day before to celebrate a ceremony for myself....of lighting my candle in my studio for the first time in a week and breathing....quieting myself...and once again listening to the beating of my own heart....I am aware that regardless of what is going on around me....I DO deserve all the good and wonderful things that come my way....I should not feel guilty about that...and I should not dismiss or push them aside....And my soul vitamins are now dripping back within and a hug is two arms wrapped around U!!! (or myself in this case!)

I am all over the board lately....I have been up and down and over and under...so the prompt today was a good one for me about breaks...when to put your foot on the brake and when to take your foot off the brake!! So, I toast myself to seeing these things a little more clearly....and I will take a soul vitamin tonight to keep my dreams going.....and as I sit in this moment....reminding myself of my day....I breathe in the freshness...the beauty and the love with my foot firmly on the brake! (giving myself a break!!)

Today, as I journal from the prompts in the Awe-Manac....I toast the day...with admitting with love that I have been wrong about some things...I have acted badly...And So I take a soul vitamin knowing that nothing is so impossible that I can not overcome it by admitting my weakness and my strength.....Today, some of the prompts had to do with marching...and I am aware that if I keep on moving...even if it seems like I am moving in place I am marching to the beat of my heart....And looking out a window at the different seasons I see the message that each one gives to me as I march into this spring of the year.

The prompts today had a lot to do with the invention of the telephone....And my writings have a lot to do with the love/hate relationship I have with that phone!! LOL....I am an owner of a cell phone...BUT...are you ready...I rarely use it....I rarely have it on me...And it is rarely turned on!
Go figure....I just can't seem to step into 2009!! I like the quiet time in the car...in the store...when walking...no phones!! Time alone...to THINK!

This journal page is dedicated....to the BEATLES!!! There was a prompt on the page to do something for the Beatles...and seeing as I am of the generation that was born and raised on them....one of those screaming girls in the living room of my parents house when they were on Ed Sullivan's Show!!! LOL....I am reminded that ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE.....I 'M IN LOVE AND IT'S A SUNNY DAY....and GOOD DAY SUNSHINE!!! Here in upstate NY the sun is out today...the car is full of gas...and it is indeed a very good day!!

To say that my day has been "ALL ABOUT ME" is really an understatement!! LOL....Some days you just have to grind the beans to get the full flavor of your day...and today, was just such a day!
I played in the studio....said NO to a great many things...even to going outside of my house for the majority of the day!...But I said YES to myself....YES to a nap...YES to playing...YES to MYSELF!! So today, I was very aware to make myself a soul vitamin cocktail and for the first time in a very long time....I MADE MYSELF #1.....TRY it ....You just might like it....even if it is only for a short period of time!! I try to give myself ME time daily....but some days it doesn't work out as I had planned....TODAY DID!!

This is a late journal page...can you tell by the chicken scratches!! LOL....Anyhow it has been a day of FIRE and ICE!! But later this evening I took 2 Soul Vitamins and felt the magic when my littlest love came over for dinner.....Simple is better!!

February 22, 2009

The toast of the day was fresh squeezed orange juice....a little bit of sunshine on this gray day! I am so ready for winter to be over!! Today, I met a friend for coffee...we talked...we listened...so the prompt on friendship was an easy one....And to kick down brick walls....sometimes you just have to wear steel toed boots!!...As for me I have donned my evening gown (fancy name for pj's)
and I am off to watch the Oscars and the red carpet beauties!!

February 21, 2009

I did not do a thing to my scanner!! Must be magic!! LOL....The toast of the day is to leave my heart open...not to close it up because of fear in any way! There was a prompt to use the word by in a continuing sentence....I go forward by.....And when that asked you why you write....The Mosca Monument....tonight...while enjoying a glass of wine...Is to do a little dance...make a little love...and get down tonight!! LOL....ENJOY!

February 20, 2009

I am not sure what is wrong with my scanner...have to work on it tomorrow....I did my journal page very late tonight....and to force myself to write (or be right!!) would be wrong....So I doodled things in 2 from the prompts of Gemini!! A soul vitamin and a shot....and two lines came together as one in this mandala...But...the GOOD thing is I choose NOT to forfeit doing the page!!

I had this journal page done...BUT...LOL...I forgot to post it and left it in the scanner till just now!! I toasted the day to sunshine and blue skies yesterday, even though light snow flurries fluttered all around me...dreaming of a WARM vacation!!! I was aware to be kind to myself even with the things going on around me.....And that "old spunky broad" within me...well...she had some kind words to say too!! LOL.....There are days that that "old broad" IS ME!!! There are other days when she only lurks in the background....and the child in me comes out!! And I guess she might just do some of the same things!! LOL

Working on the AWE today was fast and furious....I almost could not pull myself out of bed today, dreaming of being some place WARM...So the AHA-PHRODISIA prompt came easily today...I am feeling a little on the "sad" side of life today...so I toast to being able to see the layers of colors today that lie above that layer of sadness...And I am reminded that I can TURN in any direction today to change my vision...to change my perceptions...to change my feelings....And even though I am making mistakes along the way....(such is life!!) I am giving myself permission to make UNLIMITED amounts of them....for I believe it is true...We DO learn from our mistakes...we may repeat them over and over till the lesson is finally engrained in us....and sometimes we learn them quickly...but they are ALLOWED...

As I sat down and read the prompts today...drinking my morning coffee....I toast the day....I allow myself to be present and in the moment...not rushing ahead of myself and not lingering behind....Still intact! When I think of the people I most admire...several words come to mind and I listed some of them that were presented quickly....As I look in the mirror I have yet to see them shine through to me this morning...but then again, it is still early!! LOL.....One of the prompts on this page was to REMEMBER WHO YOU TRULY ARE.....and some days it is difficult for me to focus on myself (although I suppose I have this morning, because...heck, I have taken time to do my journal page and my affirmation page (FROM THE INSIDE OUT) and that is a very good thing!! So I am reminded that even if I only take 5 minutes (or in this case an hour!) than I am ahead of the game!!

February 16, 2009

Today, as I toast the day to believing in the future...I also realize that some days you just have to have a GOOD WHINE to go along with the day...to get it out of you and to get on with things!! LOL There were several prompts about bumper cars...one with a word pool of sorts...and another that asked if you were a bumper car what would you be bumping into today....I realize that I am bumping into walls of questions in order to knocked them down to find the path I am suppose to be on!!....And the Martini Bird....is for a friend who loves martini's...the perfect "stem glass" drink!! Not to mention Warm weather!! LOL....

Happy Valentine's Day...

I may not be the most important person in your LIFE.
I just hope that when you hear my name you smile and say
THAT'S MY FRIEND!
Give this heart to everyone you care about .
Try to collect 5. It's not easy

I received this from a friend of mine.....It touched my heart....Send it on to friends of your own and let it touch theirs....
Happy HEART day!!

I did this journal page late this afternoon....after receiving some news that concerns my future and that of my family....So the toast of the day is a SHOT of COURAGE!! One of the prompts on this page was to delete things from your computer....(clean house!!) I find that difficult to do...not only here in my studio...but also here on the machine...You never know when you might need it...but I looked at some things that I have had since beginning this adventure in 1999...and although I rarely go to them anymore...there is a sort of comfort knowing they are there...Same with the things in boxes that have been unopened for 20 years....BUT....I NEED TO DO THAT!!
Another prompt was to change your name and write as if you were now someone else...although the thought of being someone else (the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence!!) I just know in my heart that I can not nor would I even like to do that....BUT...just don't call me PAT!!! (it is a long story...but I just don't like to be called that!!)...And today...as I journal...I am very aware that TODAY is the beginning of yet another chapter in my life....

I had the great pleasure of spending the morning with the littlest of loves in my life, my grandson, today!! We went together to build a bear and he made a puppy and picked out a iron man suit for the puppy to wear...We laughed and hugged and kissed and went for lunch...talking away as much as a 4 year old can do!! What a joyous day!!! So, i learned many important things...to make more time to play....that little ones make the world a better place...laughter brings huge smiles to your face and heart...and everything can look better when viewed from the positive side of life.

Today, I am turning on my light!!! I am finally doing something that I said I was going to do for a long time!!.....Making me aware that as long as I continue to listen ...to pay attention...to trust myself....I will continue forward....I use to be caught up in the fact that I was not quite like others....that I did not fit into a mold of sorts....as the stars shine down and all around me...I am very much aware that I have been allowing myself just to BE ME more and more and more over the past several years...and I am very happy about that!!...And of all the things that electrify me
THE CREATIVE PROCESS just sends lightening bolts my way!!

Sometimes you've just got to do it....bake something gooey!! And then wait a minute and eat them hot from the oven....I just love that!! So full of joy and comfort for me!!! I imagine my hips aren't that happy, but who cares!! The prompts today...gave me food for thought too...If I had a fire extinguisher I would put OUT all the STRESS in my life!! WOW!! That would be something!!
And the messages that I would LOVE to hear from myself every day....Going to keep these in the fore front now....Jimmy Durante...CHA_CHA_CHA....just made me giggle....and we all know that water helps everything to grow...So why not me too!

As I sat in the office this morning I did my journal page...passing time....I toast the day with making lemon-aide out of the lemons!! And as long as I am at it might as well make that PURPLE lemon-aide!! (because PURPLE was the prompt!)...Today, I will paint and make imaginary flowers to celebrate the past year...Because I am finally getting now...what I did not get then...I am beginning to learn the lessons of life ...more and more each day!! (heck it only took 57 years!!! Better late than never I say!! LOL)

I consider Sunday, the beginning of a new week...Not sure why that is...as most people think Monday is...well, I guess I just have to be different!! Anyhow, I did not post my pages toward the end of the week as I wanted to HIGHLIGHT SHEILA!! If you did not get a chance to read her interview here...JUST PRESS RIGHT HERE!! And make sure you visit her at her blog!
Today, I am recovering from a well deserved R & R...and to top the day off I indulged in some COMFORT FOOD (to honor the little kid in me!)...Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and chocolate milk (I am the first to admit that I do not usually drink milk unless it is fresh and very...very cold!! Today, it was!!)
As I pondered how to make my creative time MORE FUN...I made a small list...And my SUPER HERO persona!! LUMINOSITY....a name given to me by my mentor Jill several years ago!! This day has been all about PLAYING!!! A great day indeed!

INTRODUCING: Sheila Earhart of Halo Hill...

This is a photo of just a sampling of what Sheila Earhart of Halo Hill does as an artist. Now, I can't remember exactly what pointed me to Sheila's blog last year...perhaps it was a friend...a link...a group...but I left her a comment (yes, it is nice to let people know that you visited!) and we have become great internet friends since. Sheila lives in Oregon, and makes these beautiful charms, not to mention that she collects and sells antiques, has a family life, works outside of her home, blogs, has an etsy store front, keeps in contact, sends out love, and is a simply amazing woman.... I would like to take this moment to introduce her to you! Sit back...grab a cup of coffee and learn a little more about her...I think you will see that she is just one of the SPECIAL ones!! I know I feel that way!

Good Morning Sheila...Thanks for joining me here at ARTFULLY YOURS...All of us on the net have a wonderful life connecting with others, and even though we may never meet each other in real life, there is a certain bond that we share and one of them is the creative process...So, that is what I would like to talk with you about today....

Pattie:. Where do you create and when?
Sheila: If I'm doing collaging for my charms, I do that in my easy chair with my green bucket full of watercolor pencils (can't get enough). When I get to the glittering and gluing, and soldering, I am at the kitchen table. I am slowly getting my studio created, de-cluttered and squared away. When I do journaling/doodling/coloring, trying out new things, I usually sit in my favorite chair, with a pillow propped on my lap as a "table". When I'm painting backgrounds for journaling or collage I do it on the kitchen counter.

Pattie:. Where do you really wish that you could create? And why do you think that would be a better environment?
Sheila: I want to be in my new studio. Of course, I would like it to be PRETTY first, but I am not going to wait until then. I've started today. It is taking shape. I wish I had one of those cute little shed/workshop/studio places out back with windows and a coffee pot, nice tables and tons of storage, mostly in the form of old cabinets with tiny drawers. I would have billowy sheets hanging everywhere to cover things and divide areas. The colors would be everything from bright white to cream, beige and all they way to brown. No other colors to distract me, as my art work tends to be bright for the most part. This would be awesome because I think I would feel organized, and it sounds like such a haven. Ahhhh, I can see it now! White roses with pink tips in silver pieces everywhere.

Pattie:. What gets your creative energy flowing?
Sheila: I've been thinking of this question a lot lately. For me, there seem to be so many answers to that question. Earlier I was folding a freshly laundered vintage tablecloth straight from the dryer. The colors were beautiful and bright, and you guessed it... so are my journal pages this evening. I get inspiration from magazines, from a word, a book, vintage sheet music, words ripped from old books to collage with. I say a little prayer right before I do a custom charm, and it has really unleashed something, I can't explain it. I have had so many people email or call me to tell me "there is no way you could have known this but..." I put a number or 2 on each tiny collage for charms, as visual interest, or design. I had a lady tell me last month, that her son had been in a terrible accident and she was praying for a sign he would be okay. She went to the mailbox, had received the charm and the number I had glued there was her son's birth year. She said it really helped her. A friend of mine had her son pass away last year, and I of course prayed before I started, and a saying ripped from an old book of prose fell into my lap as I was working. It didn't make any sense to me, because it was a butterfly, so I called to ask her, and she started crying. They had decided that would be their sign when he had gone. Another phrase "fell" into my lap and I made an extra charm for her with it. It spoke to her and blessed her a lot. I'm not saying I'm special "that" way, but I am very happy and blessed that these meaningful things happen and I get to hear about it!

Pattie:. What is the BIGGEST hurdle that you have over come?
Sheila: Really, the biggest hurdle for me was being able to call myself an "artist" I mentioned that at a class I was in during Art Fest a few years ago and the ladies there made me say it. The most encouraging person was Hope of Paper Relics. I must tell her what a profound effect that had on me. I am an artist!

Ok, one more... I was told Photoshop was too hard to learn on "one's own" reallyyyyyyyyyyyyyy, I thought! Of course I stayed at it a few evenings, and I'm really getting there! I just created my own line of journals and postcards and have some listed in my Etsy shop!

Pattie:. Do you have a "special" time or place where you get your inspiration? (ie: the shower...upon waking...a walk).
Sheila: It seems I don't have a specific place or time, it can happen anywhere... in the shower, seeing someone on the street on my way into work, the huge leaves on the ground when I walk into work, a song. I LOVE the song "Life Uncommon" by Jewel. It speaks to me so strongly, I love the music, and the words are so very powerful. It inspires me so much! I hear it is kind of against blog etiquette to put a song on your blog, but I think I may have to do this one. It may speak to someone else who may visit my blog!

Pattie:. What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Sheila: GOSH, can I have two favorites? Butter Pecan and Tin Roof Sundae!
My Etsy Shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5094432

Thanks for visiting with us today Sheila....May you continue to FLY ON THE WINGS OF YOUR CREATIVE DREAM! And inspire others here to do so also....I am the proud owner of one of your wonderful charms and wear it when I need to be reminded of my own dreams...As for me...well...even though it is still morning here....I think I will just have to go and get a hot fudge sundae...chocolate ice cream covered in hot fudge and stawberries....and partake in it while I dream about my next creative project!!

Pattie

Today, it was a beautiful day out...almost 40 degrees!! LOL...well, for upstate NY that is a beautiful day in the middle of winter...AND the sun was shining...another thing to be thankful for!
As I toasted the day, I was reminded to see things more clearly....not thinking that the glass was half empty...but rather half full!! Reminding myself that I am half way to Spring...(6 more weeks of winter according to the ground hog yesterday!!) And prompted to ask the question...what age am I???? I am reminded to PLAY...TO LAUGH...TO ENJOY....for that makes me ageless!!

With this journal page I wrote from my Shadow Muse....She likes to follow me everywhere... I have found that if I let her play with paints and pens she has a lot of wisdom to tell me...she likes to whisper so I sometimes don't hear her so she has to trip me sometimes to get my attention...
I use to be a little afraid of her...I use to think she was a negative in my life....I know now, that she is just a part of me, that I sometimes just don't pay enough attention to....Now, I listen.

It is a new month....a short month...getting me that much closer to Spring!! Today, I have a feeling of a new beginning and I toast the day with flight! Today, I get to dream a little more about my future...my passions...I just love Sunday's ...they are so lazy...no where really to go and the break in routine....I did the word pool today....and I just love what they end up teaching me....today, I wrap my heart melodies in blue-cloud cloth.....(don't you just love that line!)

January 31, 2009

I did not have the opportunity to post this yesterday....But the journal page was done!! I toasted the day knowing that I would be starting a new month...with new views...with new ideas...with new dreams...I am aware that I have been walking around with my heart more open lately...willing to give and take a little more freely....And of course my dose of mirth is my favorite of all quotes...I never seem to waver from it....My greatest hits....Just a short list but one that I do not give myself NEAR as much credit for as I should....And so now it is in writing.

January 30, 2009

This journal page came fast and furious to me today!! Some days, I am aware that I have to put a little more "jelly" on the toast of the day!! A little more sweetness into my thoughts...my actions...my life....Lately I have been addressing things that are a bit uncomfortable...thoughts, and situations that have been left unspoken....although that is somewhat "uncomfortable" I am breaking it in (like a new pair of shoes) and I am sure that soon I will feel as if it is my favorite place to be...my favorite pair of shoes despite the blisters I might be feeling at the moment...because "WHO SAID" that I must stop living my life as if it were my own? Certainly not me....IT MUST OF BEEN SOMEONE ELSE!!! (that inner negative voice!!) So as my friend Royce, wrote....BE...GIN...BE...GIN...BE...GIN (with the beating of your heart) again...I hold on tightly to that saying and I breathe slowly...in and out to feel the beating of MY HEART while I work through the fear!

Do you ever notice that some days you just have to pay a little more attention to your soul...to your passion...to YOU? Today, is one of those days for me....So today, I am reminded to take 2 soul vitamins instead of one!! To pay closer attention and listen to what it is with a better ear that my heart is telling me....With the prompt about carnations a sweet and wonderful memory came flooding back...of how my Dad (who has been gone for over 20 years now) would buy them for me...for my sister and for my mother....not wanting to look like a sentimental softy (which he was by the way...all 6 foot 2 of him!!) he would say he got a good deal on them...and that they lasted a long time so they were so worth the money!!) It still brings a smile to my face knowing that my father would go to the florist and purchase these for his girls...with love...silently letting us know how very precious and sweet we were to him!!! I used the prompt from Oprah...to write to myself about the lessons that I am learning as I journey down my path...how, I am growing into my wisdom...listening closer to my messages...and becoming aware that I can change my thinking....ENJOYING life more and more...
Artfully Yours,

PS: Don't forget to pop over and see Shelia!! She is full of life...A STELLAR artist and a MARVELOUS person!!

january 28, 2009

This morning as I worked on this AWE journal...once again AWING MYSELF with the things that it is revealing to me...I am aware that I am picking the sweet fruit from my own vine...I am taking the "berries" of life and enjoying them...Allowing myself to be "GOOD ENOUGH" ...taking the steps to allow perfection to fall a bit and rising above that need...Trying to be "perfect" to everyone and all things is an exhausting thing to do!....So today, I honor my creative time...connecting with others...doing NOTHING and not feeling guilty about that....but most of all allowing myself...with all my insecurities...with all my mistakes...with all my imperfections...with being a little off center... to BELIEVE that is GOOD ENOUGH!!

I did not get to journal till late tonight...life just got in the way....but there was a prompt on the page today that it was National Chocolate Cake Day!! That made me laugh right out loud...so I decided it was a good reason to celebrate!! To remind myself to celebrate the day for any apparently silly reason!! The Ode to chocolate cake was a fast and furious writing...but you can see...I really like vanilla cake!! LOL....Got to love the fact that one can find humor in the simplest of things!
Artfully Yours,
Pattie

PS: While doing these journal pages and interviewing Jill...I was reminded of how many very talented friends I have here on the net....So next month I will be interviewing my friend Shelia over at Halo Hill...Stop by her blog...say hello...and watch for her interview in February!!

January 26, 2009

Today, as I give myself a toast....I am reminded to FLOAT....Not to weigh myself down...to ENJOY and sip life slowly! To look for the good things today...the ice cream of life...the happy things...the things that allow me to float...to not take everything so seriously...to be grateful. There were many prompts today...but my focus seemed to be on the one where you make up a bird to represent your work...This little bird tells me to nest and hatch my creativity...my dreams...and to believe in all the tools that I have to do that. I have also, been aware of playing tag with questions...especially here on the net...I have played it many times and have revealed things not only to others but also to myself...Try it....it's FUN!

Today, is Sunday....and although I have some domestic goddess things to attend to...they are FEW and so I get to PLAY ALL DAY in my studio....my studio...my room!! No one but me likes to be in here....so cluttered...so messy...so full of creative chaos!! My "dream" room would be organized...neat and orderly...a place where tops were on paints and things were not piled on the floor...I was looking at a magazine....WHERE WOMEN CREATE...dreaming of these nice clean orderly places...and realized that I would NEVER be able to find anything if it was that clean!! LOL....The chaos somehow fuels my energy....Wonder if they will ever show a REAL working studio in one of those magazines?!?!?! One of the prompts today, was to use the word "pieces" and I made a list of the first 5 things that came to mind when I thought of that word...and then wrote a small quick story for myself using those thoughts....Causing me to realize that the "pieces" of my life come together so much BETTER when I do allow my creativity (even in the chaos of life) to shine through!! So, now....I am off to PLAY and ENJOY this creative day!!

I will EAT...DRINK...and BE MERRY today....It is Saturday...and I have no where to go and nothing pressing to do....So, I am just going to ENJOY this creative day!! The prompts on this page had a lot to do with compliments...I listed some of them for those who read this journal...
YOU have touched my heart by being here....Thank you for listening...I BELIEVE in you!!
Using as many B's as I could I gave myself a compliment!! LOL....A BUNDLE OF DREAMS!!
Of course, I had to get the extra credit for using a title from a Neil Diamond song and make it my own....Now, if I could just come up with a little music for it...that was of course danceable!! I would rate it a 98!!

I have had a very busy day today....but doing my journal page tonight lightened me up quite a bit!! Thinking of my feet...what a wonderful instrument that we do not pay homage to as often as we should...we say a lot of negative about our feet..."oh, my feet hurt"..."I've been standing on my feet all day and they hurt"...oh, my aching feet"...but the truth is...they are marvelous!! And we should pamper them more...tonight I think I will decorate my toes with new polish to let them know just how much I appreciate them...I adorn my toes with rings and bracelets...and try very hard to wear "sensible" shoes to pamper them...SO tonight I toast my feet!! There was a prompt about X-RAYS...and I was reminded of an altered book of Muses I did several years ago with 4 other extraordinary women and the X-RAY Muse came to mind...So I wrote a little about her and that brought a smile and a memory to me....and the feelings that my creativity makes me feel....PRICELESS!!

Today, as I set about doing my journal page with the prompts from the Awe-Manac...my imagination was playing....The conversation with my cats caused me to laugh right out loud...what would they say to me??? Better yet...how would I answer?!?!? Thanks to Kitt and Ivy I have learned the fine art of the CAT NAP!!! and do so enjoy it snuggled under my blanket mid afternoon with one cat at my side and one nestled behind the bend in my knee!! The Journal Juju was to take the book title...Lines and Shadows and see what came of it....It was a negative and positive thing for me....and the little drawing showed me no color....But it also make me aware that if I am in the negative all I have to do is flip the coin...turn a corner...take another step...or a CAT NAP and things change! I am also aware of how many times I don't make opportunities for myself...that I transfer things from list to list and that at the moment of the thought is when I should react...I should just allow the opportunity to be written down...and made available to me...not putting it off....It was a good journal day of learning and allowing my imagination to play!!

The journal prompts today gave me some food for thought....What I am most aware of as I toast the day is how full my cup of life is...and I will sip slowly in order not to spill any and to savor every drop of this day....So I breathe deeply...and relax into this day. My credit report looked good today....I did some very important things for myself...in order to take care of myself...and I am looking forward to going to the movies with my sister and mother this afternoon to treat myself...I try very hard NOT to envy people...As I made my envy list...I just could not help but give myself a counter balance for each envy!!! And what would people envy me for??...it has been said that it is because I create every day....I do that...in many different ways...but it started very slowly...with first dreaming it...then allowing it...now doing it....one small step at a time to arrive to where I am....It 's a good job if you can allow yourself to have it and enjoy it!! LOL

There was a lot to ponder on today's page...but today is the Inauguration and I have been lost in the media hype of it all...and then, I watched a movie about Ernie Davis, a football player in the lat 50's who played for Syracuse University (Express) both of these things reminded me of doors..opening doors...going through doors that might have been locked at times...but continuing on to follow your dream....So today, I write my favorite Door quote by Joseph Campbell...and I see a door before me...that welcomes me...and behind it lies all sorts of wonderful and happy possibilities! Today, may your doors open before you...and may the door to our lives be ones that never have locks on them.

Working on the journal page today, I raise my cup of coffee in a toast to the sunny day outside...to the sunny day inside...and remind myself to make it a ... GOOD morning....a GOOD afternoon....and a GOOD night!! The magic potion that I drink today...is a MOTION POTION...filled with sparkles...filled with sunshine...filled with gratitude for this day...I recommend it in HIGH doses (especially during the winter months here in upstate NY!!) For it will make you SING...make you DANCE....and allow you to ENJOY life to the fullest while continuing to dream BIG even if the sky here is Grey!! The Juju today was to use the line...
"I wish I could write..." and so I did my wishing...but while doing so....my heart gave me the answer that I was looking for....FOR I am happy to write...I am happy to share my hearts thoughts with myself every day....from the inside ....out!

January 18, 2009....AND THE WINNER IS.....

Big drawing for the Awe-Manac book....and the WINNER IS: KATE! (I will contact you for your addy ASAP....so the book can be sent off and started!!)
Today, as I did my journal page...the prompt that spoke to me was that of MAINTENANCE!
And as I focused on that word...it brought to my attention WHY I do these pages...WHY I sit with the Awe-Manac every day....I do it to clean up and clear out the negative...the cobwebs...and it makes me focus on the positive side of my creativity....I listed 3 things that work for me when I stay creative....and the fruit of my common sense tells me to take ONLY as much as I need....sometimes I am very guilty of biting off more than I can chew!! Doing to many things at once and then not finishing anything!! Losing interest before completion...So today, I work on completing things here in my studio...one piece at a time!! Slowly ...chewing to completion...maintaining a positive attitude!!
CONGRATULATIONS KATE!!! May you discover your MAINTENANCE every day while doing the Awe-Manac. Thanks to all who joined in on leaving a comment....I appreciate it! You can run out and buy the book....you can order it over the net....(do yourself a small favor today...don't put it off...start your maintenance!!)

I have just now gotten to my page in the Awe-Manac....it has been a busy day here in the studio trying to complete custom orders....I choose not to make a mosaic for my parachute for one of the prompts...but rather choose words that HOLD me UP....I use these words as much and as often as possible!! The Journal Juju was to write about the various relationships with your hair....I have lost my hair completely twice in my life time...Once when I was sick and I wore my baldness as a badge of honor....a survivors helmet!! The second time was unexpected and for no reason that anyone could tell and no one could say if it would ever grow back...my eyebrows and eyelashes fell out too....At first I was so sad...somewhat embrassed...and tried wigs...but they never looked like me...one day I looked into the mirror and saw myself for the first time in a long time...the inside self...and it was at that moment that I never wore the wigs again...because the baldness did not define who I was.....MY HEART SOARS now as I learn more about myself from the inside out....And after 4 years my hair grew back....GO FIGURE!! (perhaps it was just a SELF lesson!)

January 16, 2009

Today, I am enjoying the "nothingness" of this day....Right now...nowhere to go...nowhere that I have to be...Relaxing and Enjoying this morning with myself...with my creativity with this journal age!! Does that mean that it won't change today....WELL...I am HOPING it won't change as there is a wind chill factor here in upstate NY of 10 degrees below zero (can we say BURRRR!!) and I do not want to go outside and leave the comfort of my toasty house if I do not have to!! So sticking with the theme of "nothing" I am hoping against all odds to do just that...relax and enjoy whatever it is that I want to do...and if that is nothing...then so be it!! LOL....Again...I love to play with the word pool....and I just write without thinking of the outcome...After I finished this game I read the snippet and it made me laugh right out loud...because all though it appears to be "nothing"... words strung together quickly....It actually says SOMETHING....It tells me to be aware of the sparkling whispers around me...to wield my sneaker at any bump in the road....to not go down the black tunnel but to STOP and be quiet...to relax and enjoy...and to weave dreams out of the emptiness ....And to of course...NEVER LEAVE THE HOUSE WITH ONE SHOE ON!! To always try to be present!! ( All that from a funny little run on sentence!! )LOL

Approaching this days journal page I was reminded of Martin Luther King, Jr. by Jill and to wish him a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! While doing so, writing my own I HAVE A DREAM speech for myself...Picking words from the word pool provided...I wrote without thinking to much...straight from the heart! Because I do have a dream for myself....I try to follow it each and every day...
As I checked the back of my mind what small step can I take with comfort in new shoes...I can step out...step up...and continue to honor who I am and what I do without to much judgment...without to much criticism...by breaking in those shoes...slowly...one step at a time...and my holding onto the string of my hearts balloon that floats before me.

I have been popping my SOUL VITAMINS lately....I have been experiencing a great deal of creative energy from doing so...allowing myself to FLY on the Wings of my Dreams...Writing the JUju...quickly brought the thought of the series of UPS and DOWNS that one experiences in life...how we allow them to affect us to the point of stopping us in our tracks...however, if we treat ourself with compassion we can slow down....look around...and carry on with the flow a whole lot better....I am not always compassionate with myself...I am usually compassionate with others a lot easier...a lot quicker....the need for perfection often enters into how I treat myself...I am feeling SO creative these days...and with that comes some frustration when I am not getting the results I think I should be getting....So today, I am reminded to ENJOY this process and to be gentle with my heart....

As I read the prompts today in the Awe-Manac I doodled what music would look like to me...the notes dancing around full of color ... I do not play a musical instrument...I do not read music but I can hear quite clearly the notes of my musical colorful creative soul this day....I am listening to my internal wind chimes and reminding myself to SING...to FLY...to BE FREE...to dance (to my own beat!) and to ENJOY the process of this creative energy. Wanting....HA! there are so many things that we THINK we want....and I am reminded with this page that the things that are most important to me are often over looked...and I ALREADY HAVE!! Today...I am flying with my creativity....it is a colorful...magical...day and I am wanting no more than to stay right here in this energy!

There are many pens that I like to play with....but they have to feel comfortable in my hand...they have to have a balance that feels right...and they have to have ink that flows freely!!
There is something about a permanent pen that speaks to me....It might be because I can't erase what it is that I am saying...with the mis-spelled words and all....allowing ME to be ME!
Today....I celebrate ME....I drink in the JOY of this day!! I give myself permission to CATCH A STAR...to DREAM A DREAM. To toast MYSELF as I celebrate this day!

Today, is a day, now that I am home...where I DO NOT have to go out again!! I can put my PJ's on and stay in them all day!! I can lounge on the sofa watching football, or taking a nap, or sketching!! For the rest of the day....this day is mine to do with it whatever makes my boat float!! PUDDLES....this was an interesting prompt to think about....and "every path has its puddle" proverb reminded me of what I do when one appears in my path....Sometimes I jump over it (paying it no never mind as if it is not even there!!) Sometimes I walk around it (taking a look at it, but making sure not to disturb it in anyway!) Sometimes I tip toe thru it (just barely getting my toes wet, trying very hard to only hit the surface of the puddle!) BUT most of the times I SPLASH right into it....FEET FIRST...Stomping and romping ...without any boots on...getting myself wet from head to toe...or toe to head...knowing fully well that I just might catch a cold...or get dirty...muddy...but also knowing that I will come away from that puddle with a knowledge that it wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be....there was a lesson to be learned...and I allow some of the UNDERWATER DRAMA to DISSOLVE...to ESCAPE... There is just something about puddles...I just seem to want to go through to get to the other side! (mud and all!!)

Today you could use a prompt to write about chocolate!! HA! I ate the chocolate instead!! Nothing there to write about anymore!! LOL.....There were many prompts on this page in the book, but the THINGS THAT FRUSTRATE ME prompt was one that jumped off the page and spoke to me....Because I have been feeling a bit frustrated lately!! (So what else is new!!) and I need to sit and remind myself of the lessons that can be learned from the frustration...I mean, we all know the Count to 10 one that we learned as children (do we actually use that one often when we react from frustration?...NO, at least I can honestly say I do not) and then a friend of mine has the 24 HOUR Rule (sit on something for 24 hours and then react!! HA! this one is not one I use either) I am a quick reactor...some have even said I shoot first and ask questions later...I am not sure WHY I do that...but I do....SO today, with this prompt I am reminding myself that when things frustrate me I DO have the option of not reacting so quickly.....I DO have the option to learn the lessons that frustration can teach me....I DO have the option to be very aware and grow....and when all else fails...
EAT THE CHOCOLATE!!
