Glowing Heart

glowing...
alive...
radiant...
contented...
blissful...
my heart.

Today, I am aware of my glowing heart. As I reflect on my week and the messages that I have listened to. Today, I am truly aware that I am the KEY holder...that I can unlock or lock up anything that I am afraid of or love. I am aware that my commitments are strong and dedicated both in my creative life and my personal surroundings. Today, I am aware that the seeds that I plant are nourished from within and that they rise with my spirit upward...Today, I am aware of the need to relax both my mind and my body in order to be peaceful. Today, as I reflect on my week I am aware that my heart is glowing... that I feel alive with the birth of Spring..with my creativity...with my glowing heart...

PERMISSION!!

Fashion magazines....Ads on television...billboards...media! All shout it at us, all telling us to look perfect..be perfect..perfect hair, perfect teeth, perfect bodies, perfect clothes! One person giving way to look just like someone else! How many times have you avoided the mirror...said "this old thing" when someone gave you a compliment? This permission card gives you the right to see your OWN BEAUTY! We all have a spirit that is uniquely our own. It is not a copy of someone else, it does not wear a certain name brand on it, and it certainly is the most beautiful part of our self. So this permission card says celebrate who you are...YOU! See your inner beauty so that you can appreciate your outer beauty...for it truly shines from the inside out!
Artfully Yours,
Pattie

PS: This is JUST one of the many permission slips that I have made on another blog of mine!! (oh yes...another blog!! LOL) But, sometimes we just need to be reminded of how beautiful we really are...If you need a permission slip...check them out at: Giving Yourself Permission

The Invitation...by Oriah Mountain Dreamer

The Invitation

It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for
and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me how old you are.
I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon...
I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations of being human.

It doesn’t interest me if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

I want to know if you can live with failure
yours and mine
and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
Yes.”

It doesn’t interest me
to know where you live or how much money you have.
I want to know if you can get up
after the night of grief and despair
weary and bruised to the bone
and do what needs to be done
to feed the children.

It doesn’t interest me who you know
or how you came to be here.
I want to know if you will stand
in the centre of the fire
with me
and not shrink back.

It doesn’t interest me where or what or with whom
you have studied.
I want to know what sustains you
from the inside
when all else falls away.

I want to know if you can be alone
with yourself
and if you truly like the company you keep
in the empty moments.

5 Things I am grateful for today

Here it is the beginning of summer!! And what a beautiful day it was here! Although I had some computer problems I did not let that spoil my day in anyway...shape...or form!!

1. The warmth of the sun...shining brightly!
2. Holding tightly to my dreams! (which get closer every day!)
3. Baking!! (oh how I love to bake when I am happy!!)
4. Singing ...(even if I do sing off key...I love to sing to the music in the stores!!)
5. Asking myself questions...and listening for the answers...(and connecting them together!)

It was a beautiful day today!! May your Memorial Day weekend be spectacular!
Artfully Yours,
Pattie

PS: The picture is one of the terra cotta suns that I did over at one of my other blogs! Come on over and play at THE BUCK STARTS HERE!

My Muse says...Give a Prompt!!

Today...as I slept thru an alarm that I set for 4 AM!! I realized that I missed something that I wanted to be a part of...But, rather than stomp my little foot...get mad at the day...get mad at myself...I had a little giggle!! The giggle made me aware of the present day...and I could hear the birds singing and the softness of the day beginning! And my Muse tells me...to be present!! When being creative...thinking about being creative...dreaming about being creative one is always present! There is no reason to stomp your foot...or get mad at the day, or yourself when you are sitting there saying, I SHOULD DO THIS...OR I SHOULD DO THAT...or I CAN'T DO THIS..OR I CAN'T DO THAT! Take a quick view around you...listen closely...and giggle!! That's right just start to laugh at the negative about what you are saying to yourself!! Once you begin to do this...you will suddenly realize that EVERYTHING is POSSIBLE! There are more moments in a day when you CAN do something than CAN'T ...all you have to do is be open...be aware...and allow yourself the giggle! When we laugh with ourself we open a door to the heart of what we really want to do!! And we open ourself to all the possibilities before us...
Remember you hold the key!! (and the giggle!!)
Artfully Yours,
Pattie

PS: So have yourself a good giggle today...and do something creative...anything, even if it is only for 5 minutes!!

Success..

Success

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

May you be aware of just how SUCCESSFUL you are!

5 Things I am grateful for today

This is a custom piece that I completed last month...the affirmation was written by the client. But I so love it...words of inspiration! Please join me in acknowledging our positive (and at times negative) side of life at: From the Inside Out.

5 Things I am Grateful for Today!

1. My hands...the tools which allow me to bring my creativity from within out onto a surface.
2. My eyes...Which allow me to see the beauty that surrounds me.
3. My feet...Which allow me to walk...run...skip...jump and dance with my life.
4. My head...Which allows me to dream...think...imagine...and explore my possibilities.
5. My heart...Which brings me my messages...and allows me to connect to myself and others.

Today, may you be grateful for your body...your life...your joys...your loves.
Artfully Yours,
Pattie

Lilacs...My favorite Flower!

These lilacs are in my backyard...I have around 6 very large bushes of them...And they are NOW in full bloom!! The problem with lilacs is that they do not spend much time in bloom, but the beauty of them and the so green foliage is breath taking...and the smell...OH MY!! Until they have a smell sensor on this machine...you will only be able to imagine the sweetness that surrounds me when I am outside. I love SPRING...the renewal of life...the sweetness of the air...the smell of freshly mowed grass...the joy that this season brings....and the kiss of the lilac bushes that bloom just for me in my own backyard! LIFE IS GOOD!

Pattie

The years have been good...through it all I wouldn't change a thing of the learning process of MOTHER -DAUGHTER relationships....So Happy Birth DAY! To you...To me!! You have been my gift!

Musing Around...

This is a little doodle I did while "musing" around on the phone. It came to my attention today while talking to the women at the hair salon that MOST people want to be creative in some kind of way! That a good many people say things like: "I am not talented"..."I don't have a creative bone in my body"...oh yes, and the classic..."I just don't have any time". To all of that I just say:
PASHAW! (which means...bologna! ..ha!...go on!...yes you do!) So I have decided that I am going to begin a weekly prompt here for you (not on any given day...but as my Muse instructs me to!)
To get you motivated...to get you moving...to spur you on...Come on...lets play...So this is the prompt...while talking on the phone...place a sheet of paper in front of you...maybe some colored pencils...maybe just a sharpie...and doodle!! It's fun...It is something everyone can do...takes no time away from any thing else you are doing...Key words that go on in the conversation.. circles... swirls...dots...flowers. No talent needed...don't have to show anyone...just start to play...You could even take the key words and make a poem...a rhyme about the conversation...(especially if it was a memorable one) All you have to do is take the step...One little step...and before you know it...You will be on your way!

Pattie

Happy Mother's Day.... 5 things I am grateful for...

Today is Mother's Day, and I would like to take this moment to wish all of you who are among this group a very happy day! As I reflect on this "hallmark" occasion I think how wonderful it would be if we honored each other every day and not just the one day. How if we took a moment to say thank you...I appreciate you...I love you...just once more before we walk out a door...or run back for that single hug or kiss how much more gratitude we would receive in our lives. Or give someone that message via a phone call ...an e mail...a letter. All of us following this path could make a difference! It does not matter to me if you are a mother...a grandmother ..a child...a lover...the mother of a pet... an aunt...a sister...single...married...together...alone. What matters to me (and hopefully to you) is that you are aware of the people who are important in your life...and you take a moment every day (not just the hallmark days!) and honor them. By doing so...you honor yourself...

5 things I am grateful for today:
1. Hearing the words...I LOVE YOU! (and saying the words...I LOVE YOU!)
2. Being able to give and receive big bear hugs! (and little baby hugs!)
3. Being aware that my heart is following its path.
4. Sunshine that makes you just want to run outside and play!
5. Smiling...you know the kind that come from deep down within.

Artfully Yours,
Pattie

Who can you share a moment with today, for no other reason, than to let them know how important they are in your life?

Dircting you to a post and perhaps to comment!

I did this piece of art (small 4 by 4 inch) for an Inspire Me Thursday challenge...but after reading this post today,I was inspired to share it once again with all who venture here today! I was having a written conversation about comments left (or un-left) on the blogs with a friend of mine recently...and I have decided...That I am always leaving a comment..letting the writer know that they have touched my DNA with their words...Take a look at the link below and make sure you let her know that you have been there!! Blogging...reading...connecting...changes me daily...inspires me daily...and allows me to share who I am and what I do daily. I hope it does the same for you! Drop a comment...let me know!! From my DNA to yours...
Artfully Yours,
Pattie

Orphan Works Act...

The principle of post-monetization says that nothing is worth anything until somebody wants it. Those of us who make art for a living--outside of commissioned work--essentially operate on this principle. We make the stuff and put it out there. When somebody decides, for whatever reason, they want it, then the amount they are willing to pay is exactly the value at that time. If we choose to resell, reproduce or replicate, that's our business too. We still own the copyright. The convention of putting a little c with a circle around it became redundant in the U.S. in 1976. In current copyright law, every drawing, painting, photograph, poem or play is simply owned by you the author. If somebody swipes it, or uses it without your permission, you have the law on your side to chase them down and get paid. That's why the current Orphan Works Act now being considered by the U.S. Congress is particularly baffling. Promoted by dough-head non-artists who are obviously listening to big-time lobbyists, this bill says that you the artist must now officially register every single work you wish to protect. The on-line registries, presumably fee based, haven't yet been established. Big boys like Disney have always felt the necessity to register copyrights. Can you imagine what's involved in owning and protecting Mickey Mouse? That's why I'm calling this the Mickey Mouse Bill. It continues to protect Mickey but leaves little guys like you and me with another layer of paperwork and expense. While in the guise of a last ditch attempt to locate and release unclaimed (orphaned) work, it's my opinion this is very bad legislation indeed. If someone can tell me the possible value of the Orphan Works Act, I'd really appreciate it. Post-monetization is our life blood. The choice to defend an extant work should always be in the hands of the creator or his assigns. That's why the current law works so well. A few years ago a car company decently asked me if they might use one of my (already sold) paintings in the background of a car ad. I named a reasonable fee and they readily agreed. We used a "one time only" contract and we didn't even use a lawyer. If the Orphan Works Act becomes law, without an author's prior registration, Mercedes-Benz could just help themselves. No ask. No pay. Nutz. Best regards, Robert PS: "The problem is that very few of the billions of images will ever be registered. No artist that I know of has the time to pull out every work of art they have ever produced and register them with all the upcoming electronic databases." (Mark Simon, artist advocate) Esoterica: The advent of the Internet has been somewhat responsible for this turn of events. Some pundits think we're about to enjoy the sunset of copyright. As it is, Chinese artists are ripping jpegs from the Western Internet, cloning and reselling our stuff like crazy. We can't get at them because they're in another jurisdiction. Now the U.S. wants this in their jurisdiction? Nutz. In the meantime the big boys like Google and Microsoft would like to see Mickey Mouse happen. They've got the deep pockets to get what they want. I don't know about you, but I haven't, and besides, I don't like filling out forms. * ROBERT GLENN...

Cinco de Mayo!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! Have fun! Manifest your wishes today!
Shiny, bright Mexican milagros are a wonderful way to create your own "little miracles." What wishes do you want to come true?

Steps

1. Many Mexican people use milagros as tokens to represent something they would like help with or wish for. They accompany the milagro with a prayer. Traditional milagros include an ear of corn (for crops) and body parts (for healing that part of the body).

2. Think about something you would like help with, such as practicing music, improving your grades, or getting better at a sport. Think of a symbol for your wish, such as a piano, book, or sneaker.

3. Cut aluminum foil into the shape of your symbol with Crayola Scissors. Make impressions in the surface of your symbol with Crayola Twistables™ Colored Pencils.

4. Cut a wish tag from paper. Write your wish on the tag with the colored pencils. Poke a hole in the tag and in your symbol. Connect them with string.

Artfully Yours,

Pattie

PS: brought to you by Crayola by way of the net!
